Mirror Set screw
I've been trying to find a replacement for the set screw that secures the base of the door mirror to the top door hinge. Based on the tap that seems to fit the opening it appears to be a 12-24 bolt although none of the hardware stores in town carry that size. Can anyone confirm that I'm am I looking for the correct size? If so, any ideas where to find one?

If a local ace doesn't have that size, then Fastenal or McMaster Carr will be your best bet. Will have to buy a few more than you need, Weather

12-24 and 1/4-28 are so close I'd just drill and re-tap 1/4-28.

Obsolete - No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
Shown as
39051-S in upper pic.
Parts catalog pics of "standard" parts may not show the complete suffix, so one has to look in the text section to verify the part number.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to find a 1/4 - 28 and see if that works.

Roy Nacewicz might have that screw. It's a slotted pan head.

At one time Roy required a minimum order of $100.
Not sure if that is still the case.

1/4" - 28 is fine thread and if you google it, you'll find more vendors than you will need and in any head style you want.

It was tough to get a 1/4-28 tap started in the hole but once I did it cleaned out a lot of primer and paint that was plugging it up. That seems to be why I originally thought it was 12-24. Found a 1/4-28 x 1/2 cap screw at Ace Hardware that works fairly well. not original but I think it looks OK. Thanks for all the suggestions.
