Test time. Is this right? This is on a 3 week old newer style ECH STH404
On start I should have 12v at the S terminal, and run 12v at the I terminal?I do have around 6v with key on run with engine not running and 10v with engine running at coil side.
It's like I have no power to the coil on start(sometimes),when I go to on/run from start it tries to start cause it will want to bump over once or twice.Jumper from I terminal wire to starter side stud, starts. Also you can jumper from + side battery post to + coil side, starts(stays running with jumper off). New ign switch 6 months ago, 3 week old newer style ECH STH404 Turns over just fine, just won't start(sometimes). Everything nice and tight/clean. I do have a mini starter. If that made any sense.
Just starting doing this/

Can some explain the start and on/run mode? And what the I and s terminal do?
Ok I think I got it:
S wire, 12v on start to energize solenoid to starter cable post which also provides 12v to I terminal for coil on start only. No volts on s wire or I terminal when running.Right?

S mode is when key is turned to start. Wire goes from ignition switch to solenoid, which closes to allow starter to run. I terminal receives 12v at this time to supply voltage to ignition module and coil while starter is going. When start is completed and key is in run position, wire going to S post has no voltage and solenoid opens causing starter to stop. I post may still have power to it, if it is spliced into a 12v line. This will not cause starter to turn over, though.
