Are you talking about the center console screen that shows DPF%? If so, that is BS. It takes less than 15 minutes of tech time to enable it with the Ford IDS. I would find another dealer or local repair shop with a method to do it.

I agree completely. Talk about gouging the consumer....
I wouldn't bother with it. i would just get an edge insight guage. Egt's, def regen status on or off, def tank percentage, ability to do a stationary regen, and much more. And no logging on like with an app on a tablet or your phone. The factory dpf is just a percentage and all trucks are different, mine kicks on at like a 125% and off at like 20%.
I got mine enabled at my last oil change. Hoped it would be free but got charged $100 canadian for it. Regens at 100% and goes down to 20 or 25%. If that's us dollar that is crazy steep.
I took mine by the dealer and asked the Service Rep to do it. He wasn't familiar as to what I was asking about and one of the Diesel Tech's happened to be right there and said that he knew what I was talking about. Took the truck in and less than 30 mins later it was done! No charge!
That's the way this should be and any Service Rep at a dealer that is trying to charge for it, is trying to line the dealerships pockets short term. In the end, they end up losing long term when customers go elsewhere for things like this.
I helped them do it (they didn't know how but I had the instructions from this website). 15 minutes is very, very liberal. Would include a quick lunch and a beer. It is honestly 5 minutes work.
Looking at the price some dealers want to charge I'm glad I came across the thread when I bought mine from a dealer and had them install before I left the lot.
I had my dealer enable the screen before I took delivery. The dealer had never had anyone ask for this before. I had step by step instructions printed out for them to follow.
