RockAuto close-out pricing...

I just received this from RockAuto. It states that it is for 1984 F150, since I have purchased parts for that vehicle, but most parts are for 1980 - 1986.

Many of the oil filters in that list say VIN Y .. Y is the VIN engine code for 1983 and later 4.9L (300 I-6) with EFI .. So, what's so special about these filters? Nothing.

Motorcraft FL-1A (replaced Auto-Lite/Motorcraft FL-1; B7A-6731-A; C1AZ-6731-A; D9AZ-6731-A) was used in most Ford I-6 (including ALL 240/300's) & V8 gas engines from 1957 thru 1996.

The one major exception: Ford shoehorned the 302 into the 1975/78 Mustang II engine compartment.

The FL-1A was too long to clear the engine cross member, so Ford introduced the FL-300 which was a shorter version of the FL-1A
