The spout plug is a little grey jumper that disables computer advance similar to unplugging vacuum from an old points distributor. With that done you set the base timing a 2-4 degrees over stock(10deg BTDC) and that will increase torque a little and give it some more pep in it's step, but too much ignition advance will make the engine ping under load and too much of that can damage it. To do this you need a timing light and a small wrench and you simply turn the distributor slightly while the engine is running and point the strobe light at the timing marks on the harmonic balancer.. which usually has to be cleaned off first just so you can see those marks. This is a little bit dangerous because you have that spinning fan in there but it's not hard to do overall.
