1978 and later C-II P/S pump (has a plastic reservoir): The P/S pressure hose attaches to the pump w/a qwik connect fitting.
See 3D654 & 3R608 in parts catalog pic. 3D654 is 5/16" hex.
If these fittings are still on the pump (they came with it originally), just buy the correct P/S pressure hose for a 351M/400 1978/79 F250 4WD same as 1979 F350 4WD ~ Ford part number: D8TZ-3A719-E
These are the ends that are on the stock line. It can't be quick release. The stock replacement wont work in this application the the truck is a 64 the steering box is a 78 and the motor is a 7.3 so nothing is in the right location for the stock line. Im figured this area of the forum was most appropriate being that its the parta off the 78 im inquiring about.
If you assemble your own line using a system such as those offered by Russell or AeroQuip, be aware that the high pressure line has to be able to handle 1500 PSI or so. You can download the Russell catalog as a PDF. I did and learned a lot from it.
In Russell terminology, you'll need the PowerFlex hose (rated at 2500 PSI) and PowerFlex Endura hose ends and power steering adapters.
In my case, I used the Russell catalog to figure out what I needed, got the part number and then went to Summit online to work up a wish list as a planning document. Summit uses the Russel part numbers with "RUS-" prepended to it. I used AN-6 because that matched the ID of the original hose as it meets the steering unit. The original went from AN-8 to AN-6 but I didn't see any good reason to duplicate that and double the cost of that line.
Brace yourself for sticker shock. This stuff isn't cheap.

1978 and later P/S pressure hose used with the C-II P/S pump (has a plastic reservoir) has a straight tube on the pump end with an O-ring on it.
This hose connects to the pump w/a qwik connect fitting as shown in the parts catalog pic in post #2.
1966/77 F100/350's use the Ford/Thompson P/S pump (has a steel reservoir). The P/S pressure hose threads onto the pump.
Ford/Saginaw P/S gearbox: 1969 F100/250 2WD & F350 from serial number D96,001 / 1970/79 F100/250 2WD & F350 / 1976/79 F100/150 4WD / 1978/79 F250 4WD / 1979 F350 4WD
1980 and later (but these later P/S gear boxes won't work on 1979 and earlier).
You can also have a hydraulic shop make the hose you need. If the original ends would work, the shop can cut them off and weld them to new stub fittings that are designed for that. You can make the line any length you want, you just need to be cautious of the "clocking" of the fittings so everything lines up when you install the hose.
I got everthing ordered today 3000psi hose two hose ends and the two adapters. I could have had the hydrolic shop make a line using the ends off the old line, but the logging company who had the truck rounded the fittings off over the few decades they owned the truck. For future reference the adapter fittings are 640330 and 648030 russell.
