No...this discussion of the two axle options and possible different bolt patterns has been for the SRW - Single Rear Wheel F250 and 350s only. Didn't touch on the 350/450 dually at all since we started talking about this.

That's for sure. Remember the "Twin I Beam" IFS of the '80's. A lot of customers went elsewhere after that mess. And then there were the Light Duty and Heavy Duty F-250's. One with 6 bolt and one with 8 bolt wheels. Car type mirrors on light, truck mirrors on heavy. Numerous possible axle combinations and a whole warehouse of parts to support the different combinations available. Customers invariably wound up with the wrong parts due to the confusion. I hope Ford is not going down the path of too many parts to support the various configurations.

Personally, I would prefer IFS, but that's just me. My only real heavy-duty truck use is towing my fifth wheel. I won't buy a GM though, so I'll stick with SFA as long as Ford does.

I was thinking the same thing the other day.

"Yeah, I've got a 2017 F250 and I need a wheel bearing."
"OK, let me look that up here....OK, which axle do you have?"
"Uhhh, hmmm, let me go check. Yeah, it has 8 bolts holding the wheel on."
"Well, sir, I need to know if it is the standard duty or heavy duty axle."
"Ummm, I don't know.
"Just take both and bring back the one that doesn't fit."
