Either that or they changed nothing with their redesign in which case 2009KR will go batty.
I wouldn't go batty, I'd go dually

I know buddy! I was just funnin' ya a bit... This whole waiting thing is a killer on so many fronts. And, the guys who have ordered have just as little as us waiting. (I couldn't play it that way. Just too OCD and need to know every detail before pulling the trigger...) In a year it won't mean a thing but right now it's front and center on everyones agenda for sure....

Josh stated in the 8x170 thread that: "There will be two axle options for the SRW trucks. Wish I could dive into it more, but I can't". Rodney....doesn't that go against what Rutcutter was asking you? I know in the past I remember the part numbers being the same for the 250/350.....but what about the 2017s?? From what I see, and you can read that post, but it appears to be two different sized bolt patterns available depending if you get the 250 w/o tow pkg....gas 350 vs. getting F250 HD Tow Pkg or a 350 Diesel. To ME...I see two different sized bolt patterns on some of the rim pictures and on the pics available online.

Ken, I was referring to the current (2011-2016) trucks. I have no idea about the differences between the 2017 250 and SRW 350. And, if Josh doesn't know, then no one on here does until they come out...

I think Josh also stated that the bolt patterns are the SAME on the '17. Different axles doesn't mean different bolt patterns.

RainDesert posted this: "Ford engineers forum confirmed still 8x170. This is good because I have planned on taking my current wheels to the 2017." But Josh never stated same bolt patterns...unless I missed it.

OK, I think you are right, but Josh did mention the bolt patterns on the diesel and gas axles are the same for the F250 (there was some question as to why two different wheels).

Unless I'm just completely confused at this point...

I can't say either way on the lug patterns. I just know that you will have two completely different axles to choose from on certain SRW trucks. When I Google the new option, I can't even get any info on it. Ford must be keeping it top secret.

Gotcha!

Too bad they aren't different FRONT axle options...one being IFS. That's a whole 'nother can of worms.

As mentioned to it comes down to fees, but not just registration. It's a big factor for commercial trucks. If you even haul the boy scout trailer across state lines with a normal F350, you're technically a commercial vehicle and need DOT reg and medical cards. Not as big of a deal for intrAstate until you hit higher numbers than either 250 or 350 get to. We had a guy come in and buy an F350 from a normal retail sales guy because "that's what he said he wanted". Well, two months later I had to trade him into a F250 so he could avoid all the added hassle. Treated him as good as I can, but as a dealership, it should have been passed back to commercial sales to start. The guys up front can do paperwork on anything, but they don't have as much knowledge to go beyond "what the customer wants" and make sure they get what they actually need. Ironically, if you are hauling a personal truck and trailer and have little to no experience then the commercial reg requirements go away. So the guy that drives big trucks daily is held to a higher standard than the inexperienced guy who is more likely to cause a wreck (on a per drive basis)

Let me first say that I really appreciate all of the great information that you post on this site.

From the research that I have done regarding license classes and commercial / non-commercial, I respectfully disagree with your statement above. The boy scout trailer would need to have a >10,000 GVWR to be considered a commercial vehicle - in state or interstate.

The good news for many of us is that RV's are exempt from 99% of this except in California. The guys working their trucks for a living have to watch their legal numbers much more closely.

The dual rear wheel option is definitely a whole separate bolt pattern/size wheel. 10 bolt 17" wheel. This may be where the difference is being detected?
