Cheap DEF

I have always used Peak Brand DEF in my 2011, and new 2016 Trucks at $13.95/2.5 gal.
I was in need of some so I drove over to Tractor Supply where I normally purchase my Exhaust Fluid. They have this stuff on sale for $8.88/2.5gal.
I walked out with 3 jugs of the stuff. I think that DEF is a little less critical then say Motor Oil so I decided to save some $$ and take a chance. Anyone else use this stuff?

Went there today. $10.99, no real bargain.

my local store today was all out so I just picked up a couple of blue def. No savings today.

Big plus for the dog though. Got some pig ears and some bones.

I use the bulk DEF at truck stops all the time, in addition to other brands of DEF... As long as it meets the standard, it gets the job done. Can't see how that stuff wouldn't work and I would use it too.

I'm about out of all of my DEF stockpile, so I gotta start looking around, since AFAIK there are no truck stops in AK that sell bulk DEF and I don't have a trip planned to the Lower 48 for a bit.

If it's API certified (and that jug is), use it! The name does not look familiar to me but the jug does. If you read the label on the back I'd take a bet it's made by Brenntag Specialties out of Reading PA. They are one of the largest suppliers of DEF in North America, and marketed under various names.

A little googling looks like the name may have been modified from TERRA Cair to TRCair. Made by Brenntag. Been running their stuff in my Pete for 105K with no issues.

Supertech DEF at my local Wally World is $7.88 for 2.5 gallons everyday. I've used about 10 gallons of the stuff and have not had any issues.

I was told like said above it if it has the API label on it then your good to go. I lucked out, I got 15 boxes of the 2.5 gallon of air 1 Def for a heck of a deal. Never heard of air 1 before but it has the API stamp on it.

Even when camping in boonies I'm never more than an hour away from a Walmart so I don't store it. But I do use the Walmart brand regularly, and I think everyone should because it will force the blue stuff to come down in price (Maybe). For the prepper/hoarder types, heres some good info on storage and shelf life.

I've been using it for nearly 2 years in my 2015. The pour spout works better than on Blue Def.

I also use whatever I can find cheap with no problems. Menards is a good source.

I do like using the Ford tube though. It has worked on all the bottles and always works perfectly without spilling a drop on my truck. Easy, just lift the bottle till the tank stops taking the DEF. Drop the bottle below the fill and let it run back, then remove. Finally, run some clear water through the tube and store back in the Ford bag it came in.

The last couple of DEF fill ups, I've used the truck stop hose. It's like $12 to fill my tank when I down under 500 miles to empty.
