Like I said...an old thread with NO complaints. I've had them a year with no indications of over stressing the hatch or the body. The physics of levers is quite impressive. Also, if your stock struts are in good shape they should start raising the hatch on their own within the same range, mine just lift higher due to the extra extended length.
Based on that quote, it's very apparent you still don't comprehend what I'm trying to communicate.

No worries, I wasn't saying it was gloom and doom, just trying to voice any "cons" I could think of to help you figure out what you wanna do, like you requested of us.

I hope it works, short term and long.

That's the third time that has been stated. Maybe you wording it differently might get him to understand he cannot use that mod we do, as a measurement for long term success for what he wants to do.

Not looking to wade into an argument...

My Ex still has the original hatch struts and while they hold the hatch up fine and even go part way by themselves...it's the initial part of the lift that I too would find difficult to overcome.

I'm thinking something would be needed like the minivan rear hatch "arms" on the auto open tailgates....

OP what Stewart is sayying is the popper is going to open the rear hatch maybe 3 or 4 inches, the 2x4 struts are not going to be strong enough to open the hatch on their own from that position. You will need to open the rear hatch about a foot before the struts have the power to lift the hatch on their own.

An idea for a cool hatch mod would be to graft in the hatch mechanism from a new crop of SUV's like the GMC Acadia that opens and closes the hatch automatically. Wire that in to work off your key fob. Now that would be slick.

I think rigging the back hatch is a very cool idea, and I am digging your idea.
