The 2011 F150 Lariat 2WD 3.5 EB, with 75,000 miles that we bought used in March has Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza P275/55/20 tires with about -50% tread. The problem is the truck will spin the tires with the slightest throttle and can be dangerous in the rain. I do not normally haul or tow but I did haul in 3 tons of rock in a dump trailer and I could smoke the tires at lights. When loaded, the hitch dropped about 2-3 inches so I know I had good tongue weight. Stopping seems to be just fine.
I am used to the hp as I also drive Mustangs and a 2000 F150 Lightning so I know to be easy on things. It just seems this truck is real touchy OR since I see no mods anywhere, I wonder if these tires are just that crappy. I have used other Bridgestone in the past with better results....any ideas?
My stock Michelin's were like that. I swapped to 20" sport wheels off a new truck with Hankook Dynapro 275/50/20 and it was like night and day difference. Better handling, traction wet or dry. Well worth the cost.
I had those tires before and had no traction problems. Is the tire pressure ok? Maybe the rubber is hard but you said they are only 3 years old. Strange.
Not as much meat between the road and those 22's either, as apposed to say an 18" wheel. I feel that the shorter the sidewall the stiffer the tire, regardless of tread compound will still break loose easier than a smaller diameter wheel with the same height tire.
