Vacuum Canister?

I'm going to look for that also. If it's that big must have a large line to keep it supplied with vacuum. I'll try and snap a few pictures too.

Jim was on the right track. I located the vacuum canister.

On the front end of the canister were three line going upwards towards the engine.

Two I had already reinstalled but the third was hiding among the coil packs and injectors. It was marked R5. The thing that threw me off was the canister line is 1/4" and the vacuum port was around 3/8". Theirs an elbow reducer on the line.

Thank you all for your help. Now I'm installing more front end parts.

I finished up today installing the evaporator and oil cooler. Just need grill, headlights and bumper to complete the front end.

I think I'm going to take my GoPro to the shop with me and record the occasion. It was April 22nd when my van threw a rod. It's been almost two month work getting it back on the road. Hope it treats my right!

Jim is pretty good at these things!

I bet it feels good to be this close..
i am not sure but if I remember you have another thread started about throwing the rod? If so, I followed it for a while. Where did you get the engine?

I'll be removing my grille and all tomorrow but only to replace the AC condenser so I don't think i have to remove the headlights and all like you did..

Take a few minutes and some soapy water to wipe off the front before you put everything back together. You cant get to it later..

Thanks for posting the pics too.. I often do searches looking for pics and i can tell you now that yours are the only ones in the inter net that link to where that line goes...

I got the long block from CamelBack Ford in Phoenix. They gave me the best price. $3717.00, and they were very easy to work with.

You only need to remove the upper radiator supports to get at the a/c upper condenser supports. Loosen the high and low side fitting on the condensor and it will slide up and out.

I got Pop's '88 E-150 club wagon in Feb. 2014, worked on restoring the mechanicals until July 2015 when I sold it. It was a retirement hobby, mainly.

Here's the list:
-- Update on Project Grandpa's Van --

Fuel system: fuel pumps, tank selector valve, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator.

Suspension: brake linings/wheel cylinders all 4 wheels, front wheel bearings, replaced 4 shocks, tie rods.

Heater/air conditioning: repaired vent doors, new hoses, charged R134a, fixed blower speeds.

Ignition system: new TFI module (remounted to airbox), plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, TPS sensor, IAC.

Engine: water pump, serpentine belt, thermostat, lower manifold, fan clutch, tachometer, O2 sensor.

Removed EGR and all smog devices, modified smog pump.

Installed keyless entry, 2 rear view cameras, side door power lock switch,

Installed seat belts 3rd row.

Installed winch to rear bumper, wireless remote.

Total Parts $2,500

To my knowledge that's the first sighting of a '92 and later E-Series vacuum canister!

DC do you have other photos of that in place standing a bit further back from where its located? That would be highly beneficial to anyone looking for those when they develop leaks affecting the HVAC system.

ANYTHING would be helpful!

Amazing progress so far---seems to be going along without too many issues.

The pictures were close because I was laying on the floor under the van. I can put it on the lift if you want.
