What's a better unit ford high output 140A or advanced auto 140A?
Might check with whitebear Autonation Ford parts for pricing and be sure to ask this question: Is it a NEW or Reman. from Ford? Even with a 24mo warranty I wouldn't want a reman. Only reason I bring this up is I bought a Ford "new" alternator for our Expy and it said all over the box it was a reman. Dealer I got it from took it back but said all they got from Ford was reman. units. I bought a New AC Delco from Kragen, which lasted maybe 24K miles and O'Rielly honored the lifetime warranty with their brand "new" lifetime unit...
I think Jack "TooManyToys." said he was thinking that whomever makes the Bosch makes the Ford 140A. Problem is if it goes out when you are on the road you have to get one shipped to you....
Personally, if mine went out I would buy a REAL Leece Neville unit...
Not to hijack this thread but what was that magic Voltage number just after start up that if your under it gets hard on the FICM/injectors? Think it was around 11 volts?
Is that during cranking or just after? I'm looking for after when the glow plugs are still on but engine running. If it's 9.5 then I'm sweet. Lol. Thanks again.
Randy's close, especially with all the numbers that get thrown around. It's anytime. It's also not the critical point, one that we don't actually know, it's the point Ford sets off the warning.
It's in TSB 09-24-3
FICM low voltage detection monitor - DTC P0560 stored and wrench warning lamp illuminated when PCM vehicle power(VPWR) parameter identifier (PIDS) is below 10.25V for 60 seconds or below 9V for 4 seconds
That makes two of us on the hijack, what do you guys think about Costco batteries for diesels? I am running a wet cell and in a GM, I have heard that is a no-no. So my thought is rather than buy a new battery , I will return the battery in my FJ40 to Costco and get an F250 battery and then use the yellow top in my FJ40…

You really want not only the same battery, but from the same lot: same age and in-service date. Two matched batteries in other words...
I was happy with the old Costco batteries, but out here, they've gone to Interstate with a lousy warranty. So I'll look elsewhere...

I'm not sure. I was checking them out the other day. Sure cheap.

They are inexpensive. I actually like the Interstate brand, for personal reasons though. But, I am also not worried about the warranty so much, as I will be planning on replacing my batteries every 3 to 4 years out of pocket expectation. I purchased the 850 CCA.
