Question alternator

hi guys,
about two months ago my alternator on my 1990 f-250 w/302 quit and I replaced it along with the plug with a brand new Bosch unit. Everything worked fine for about a month then the battery light on the dash started to light up. It goes out when you accelerate or climb a hill but comes back on when you come to an idle or back off the gas. Voltage reads 14.6 at the battery posts both at idle and when revving the engine even when the light is on. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I think the regulator on this system is built into the alternator. I also know it must be charging because i've been driving it like this for two weeks now.

thanks guys
Bullyt

The bosch unit does not have the lamp circuit (most likely) and it won't turn off the dash lamp. any reason you did not use a ford unit? You can upgrade to a 3G and keep all that working. just my 0.02.

Recently had a similar problem. Seems the replacement alternator installed was a 95 amp unit. My truck required a 130 amp alternator. Change to a 130 amp unit and the red battery light disappeared
