So after I had my heads decked and o ringed and new head gaskets, bulletproofing, etc, I decided I was brave enough to run the Hot tune on my mini max for a little trip for work. About a 90 mile round trip and the computer mileage was 18.6 running a little over 70, about 1.5mpg better than I had gotten before. My big question is, if I run this tune and don't stomp on it, is it still hard on the the engine and the transmission or can I benefit from the increased mileage driving like a grandma without any damage?

 

I run the extreme race tune from GearHead as my daily driver, with the Atlas 40 FICM tune on top of that.

Enjoy the mpg, extra seat-of-the-pants acceleration and huge grin on your face...... you paid for it!

 

Is the H&S stuff worth the money?

 

The "Hot" tune is pretty awesome! Even the "Mild" tune (first level of non stock settings) makes a significant difference. If you're not in it all of the time I don't think you can do anything other than grin. I have an H&S Mini Maxx I have run for several months -- came with the truck. It seems to be fine but I am ready to sell mine to go a different route. Again, no problems, just not exactly what I want for my application.
