I bought this truck last week. It drives really good. Have driven about 300miles on it so far. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell if it's a knock or just the older diesel sound. Please see for yourself.
Check your exhaust.
One thing I might try is having someone rev the engine for you while you listen and watch for where the noise is coming from.
If it doesn't get loud enough just revving in neutral, jack the rear end up so the wheels are in the air. Put it in drive/high gear and do the same revving thing; the tires spinning up will create a decent load on the engine so you can hear what's going on.
Sounds like a rod knock to me. If it does it at idle you can crack injector lines loose to kill each cylinder and see if the noise changes. Could be an injector knock also, same test is where I'd start for that too
