Crew Cab is the #1 seller for a reason. I ordered my SC for two reasons though. I think the bed to cab size balance is perfect on a short bed. The second was the back seat was for groceries, bags while traveling, etc. We didn't have kids and when out with others we'd take the wife's SUV. Well, about a month after I ordered it my wife yelled "uh oh" from down the hall. Our truck and daughter are both around 4 now. Time for a proper back seat....

I've got a 13 year old, 8 year old, and 5 year old. The SC is miserable.
I decided there were too many things that I was forced to get with the platinum that I didn't want at all. I like the looks of my running boards always being out and use them to wash my truck to boot. So, didn't want the retractable steps. I also don't want the adaptive cruise with brake assist and can skip it without the platinum. I wish I could skip the BLISS too but then I'd loose the good headlights. I have always despised the chrome package and can skip that too with the lariat. I also don't like the painted front bumper on the platinum as it would get more beat up on the highway on my long RV trips by way of rock strikes. Lastly, I can get two tone with both of the colors of my RV on a lariat. If you recall, I had my RV painted magnetic and ingot silver so a two tone lariat would match even better than a monochromatic platinum.

Makes sense. I didn't want the adaptive cruise either.
Lariat Ultimate isn't available on the current SC either. I love my SC but I think it's a dying breed.
There are only two of us left at home. "Empty Nester" I think is the term. Our last Husky died four years ago. In our mid-sixties another high energy dog is not in the cards. Any dog but a Husky (we have had three over 35 years) will not suffice. Soooo, the continued use of a super cab is just right. A cooler, a camera bag (always), a few tools, a few groceries and an occasional passenger makes the super cab just right. Oh! a place to put my coat too! But then again, past age 65, I too am a dying breed.

We were never nesters. LOL. My brother called us DINKS. Dual Income, No Kids. We had invited kids for a long time but none showed up. So, we ordered our second SC so I could slow down with work and we could travel more. Within a month my daughter finally got the invitation.... Life happens.... We're the old fart parents at the kid events now. Cracks us up...
The only advantage is parking and with the new tech, even people who can't drive well should be able to figure it out.
Personally, I think the short bed looks in better proportion than the 8'. I can drive just fine, thanks, but I prefer the looks and parking ability of the 6.75' bed. Besides, I don't have a need for an 8' bed (I tow a fifth wheel with a Reese Revolution), so why buy something I don't like or need just because?
To me, the biggest advantage of the 6.75' bed is looks! But, to each their own.

Rodney....you have a lot of good points to not go with the Platinum. One thing though, I believe there is a switch to leave the running boards out when washing the truck. My mom's Navigator has "Auto" "OFF" "Out". When you drive away with it in the OUT..as soon as the truck hits 3 or 4 mph....the boards go back in and switches back to "Auto". I'm with you though on the painted bumpers...don't really want them color matched/painted. Also, I would go two-tone Silver/Magnetic in a heartbeat if I could on my Platinum if it was an option. One of the coolest combos out there. It's gonna look great with your camper.

I think that 450 you posted may be the best looking truck yet. That F450 is a sharp looking truck!

Not old, just experienced. A little harder keeping up some times but I am sure she is loved and a wonderful addition to your family.
I went to Connecticut a couple of weeks ago and noticed the banks of cameras on the Mass Pike and had to do some research. Thought it was more of the big brother and turns out, in a way it is. Mass is eliminating the toll booths entirely and will rely on cameras to mail anyone using the pike a bill in the mail. I know NY has a huge problem with people ignoring the EA Pass and blowing on through. The state is owed millions in uncollected revenue. Hope mass fares better. NPI
Ken, thanks for all your thoughts and info on the boards. I still like the look of them always "deployed" though.
Fordman, I appreciate your thoughts on my colors. I think it will be great.
Rasalas, yep pay by mail. Of course, the MA Pike was supposed to be a toll free highway decades ago. The government promised! But you know how that goes... And yes, the little one is quite the blessing. Also, I was a bit wild when I was the age that most folks had kids so I'm a much better parent now than I could have been then...
Oh, and just to torture myself, I've still been considering staying SRW. Somehow, it just doesn't look as impressive but would be easier to drive daily, still handle my trailer fine, and save me 3k on the truck and 5k on winter tires/wheels/new power tonneau. I could also continue to use my current plow which saves me trying to find a new snow removal solution. Decisions, decisions...
Ingot Silver and Magnetic are both available on current year F-150s. You can see them at the dealer along with Caribou. White Gold was a color on some smaller Ford cars in the past. The images presented on the pre-roll out vehicles showed the White Gold much lighter than the renditions on the web-order site. I am hoping the actual color is lighter and not a heavy gold color. And the thoughts of trading after a couple of years are still in the back of my mind if they bring back a decent green.
