I recently bought and installed the Torque Force chip from Motorhaven. I installed it as soon as I got it and was very happy with the performance gain. About a week later I notice my airbag light flashing and then remaining on. It flashes 4 times, pauses and then 2 more times. It follows this pattern a couple times and then stays on. What does this mean? Is it related to the chip?
Possibly. Pull the chip and make sure you got all the grease/shellac off the contacts of the PCM and ensure the chip is fully seated in the PCM slot, use a little duct tape to hold it in.
It is not neccessary to unhook the batteries to do this, just make sure the keys are not in the ignition.
When I installed the chip to begin with I was carefull to make sure I got all the "goo" off the board. My understanding was that if the contacts were not "clean" and getting good contact it would not get the "wait to start" light to go out.....it did take me a couple trys, by the way, to get all that "goo" off and get the "wait to start" light to go out. I'll try it, maybe I'll just unplug it and see if it resolves my problem without the chip.
Also, the coding that I described in original message was mistaken. The flashing is 2, pause, 4 or "24". Does anyone know what this code means?
Ok, still haven't figured this one out. I went to Autozone to have them read the code and they told me the State of California had sued them, something about them not being mechanics.....Anyway, please help. Somehow this problem is affecting my interior dome light. When I open the drivers door the light doesn't come on, but I can manually turn it on with the dimmer switch.....I just dont get it.
