My trucks transmission today started acting funky. When is gets up to fourth or fifth gears there is a higher pitched rubbing sound coming from below. There is a loss of power(higher rpms for same past speed). The sound only happens when pressing on the throttle. Also at the same time the overdrive light on the column shifter started blinking on and off. Do any of you guys have an idea of what the problem is. I have an appointment on Wednesday of next week to get a diagnostic to see what codes have been thrown.
Typical symptoms when the torque converter is on its way out. You'll get confirmation of that when you pull the codes. If it's just the torque converter, don't replace it with a stock converter. A good upgrade is the torque converter for the 4R100 transmission found in 99+, it bolts right up and isn't too spendy. If your dealer has a clue, that is the TC he'll give you. Let us know how it goes.
