i cant seem to get the fuel filter off. i bought the special tools for removal. i used them to remove the rear line to the filter. the forward line is a different connector. it is a metal connector. if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate some help. thanks

I'm sure someone with a 97 will help, Ford loves to change those connectors.

 

i had bought the special tool to remove the gas lines. the rear line connector at the filter worked easy and made sence. but the line running to the engine had a metal bell shaped end that went over the filter, that didnt make sence to use the tools on that end and everyone had told me "it just pulls off" well it dosnt...
inside the bell shaped end are little clips bent back inward that slide and clip over the ring on the filter when inserted into it. the special tools work on that connector also. it's just allot tougher than the rear connector. but it is doable!!! thanks to this place i was able to figure out what need to be fixed and what to do.....

my first gas filter change went same way before found out need that tool wont come out a there without it except in pieces then lot more $$'S
