If it happens again, make sure to monitor RPM, ICP psi, ICP duty % (IPR) and battery voltage while cranking.
On the 42 pin connector, also check the wires coming out of the back of the box. That's where my short was.
Be sure to listen to if the fuel pump is coming on with the key or if any dash lights don't work as normal. If no fuel pump when the key is first turned on, and the fuel bowl heater fuse has been checked and heater unplugged, leave the key on and wiggle every single wiring harness you can see under the hood. If you wiggle a wire and hear the fuel pump kick on, you've likely found your issue.
One more thing to consider--sensors internally have somewhat flaky ways of terminating the small electronic parts to that wire harness. Rapping on them can make or break a circuit that is already faulty from poor quality design or construction in the factory. Metal fatigue, poor quality assurance, etc. can play a role. Certainly the IPR with its mechanical parts is the most likely, but there is no guarantee since you rapped on several components. Some manufacturers vibration and function test a certain % of their parts, but not all do.

I'd add that the PCM will run the pump for 20 seconds when key on engine off, so that's the time frame for wiggling. Best to have a helper with a watch refresh the koeo condition every 20 seconds so you can concentrate on wiggling wires.

If there's a short to ground in the harness, it's causing the pcm to turn the fuel pump on. No need to cycle the key. When the right wire is wiggled, the PCM will engage the fuel pump for 20 seconds starting then.
Thanks for all the great advice. While I was having the no start I had full fuel pressure and fuel in the bowl at all times except when the fuel pump times out witch is normal. I did get an IPR from Clay this week just in case. I will be working on my truck tomorrow in an effort to figure out what the true issue is.
