Draining FE Engine Oil --- NEATLY

So has anyone come up with a tidy way to drain the oil in an FE equipped truck? By tidy I mean that the oil goes from the engine directly into a drain pan without first traversing the engine crossmember and steering linkage.
I once tried carving up a quart sized plastic oil container which seemed to work initially but quickly got out of control.

Using cardboard, I fold a trough to convey the oil into the drain pan. Works for me.

...An alternative is to install a Fumoto valve and the optional drain hose.

That's a 2wd thing and your right it's messy. My father inlaws 65 F100 is basically the same and we too tried making things but it's still a mess. Some sort of hose and valve setup would be slick.

Draining FE Engine Oil --- NEATLY

I just live with the mess... a friend of mine had these for draining:

Form-A-Funnel® Flexible Draining Tool - 6.5" x 14.5" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003V9JWHO..._qK3uxb6X9NX7K

Or you can get a Fumoto drain valve with the hose nipple on it.

I used to use heavy duty aluminum foil molded to fit around the pan. That is when I had a 2wd camper special.

Just cut the crossmember out of the way. Clean oil changes and $.65 in scrap metal!

Now we're getting into CrownVic IFS territory.
In addition to the Fumoto valve solution, there are a number of others aimed at turbo owners. Apparently, changing oil in a turbo vehicle is an even greater challenge that what we face. For example, see: this,

I always did a combination of what HIO Silver & co425 on my motorcycle because the headers passed directly under the oil filter, which guaranteed some nice smoke if you didn't do it. Bent a piece of cardboard and covered it in foil. Haven't done it with a truck yet since it's easy enough to wipe off, but still a good idea.

Here is a nice animation showing how the Femco system works.

Here are three models that should work on engines using a 1/2-20 plug:
The 90º drain and hose looked to me like it would work better than the straight one.

Guys, there is an easier way, just remove the engine entirely every time you change the oil.
