What are the most used sizes and lengths of bolts on our trucks. The size of hinge bolts, running board to fender bolts, etc.I would like to order all stainless at one time.
Not knowing the sizes wont help me when i chase the threads with a tap to clean the 60 year old threads up from the east coast rust. Most of my trucks were in pieces when i bought them so many of the bolts were out already leaving the holes open to the elements. I know most are just 1/4-20 and door stuff is 12-24. I thought someone would of had a list by now.

You asked the most used those are the ones I use the most. You need carriage bolts, special bolts for cab mounts, fenders ect
As I took mine apart took the bolts to the local Fastener Shop & bought a slew of each.
Even different lengths, that way ended up with just about any bolt (nuts too) needed when putting it back together.
There is a fastener supplier here in town named Ababa Bolt, they have virtually anything that I have ever needed in the way of hardware. I have been told that these shops are commonly found near airports...which is the case here. I buy most items in bulk there, usually in boxes of 25 - 100 pieces. Storing these boxes got to be a hassle until I found these cabinets, they are a great investment and make getting to the piece you need very simple.
Don't forget 7/16 dia in varying lengths. When I started building the other truck I did not have a 7/16 bolt in the house and I sell bolts go figure most of the 7/16 are on the frame. fking 1 did it right. Good luck
Just a head's-up on stainless fasteners: in case you aren't aware you need to use either anti-seize or Maalox on the threads before assembling or you'll end up worse off than you would have using un-coated hardware. Stainless fasteners will gall when assembled without a coating. Maalox is the preferred coating (cheaper and won't make you look like the tin man.) And never, ever use stainless bolts and stainless nyloc nuts without coating, especially in areas exposed to the elements otherwise you might as well just go ahead and weld the pieces together.
Funny thing, my '53 is pretty much original and I have yet to break a single bolt. They all come apart as if they were assembled yesterday.

Are you talking about using the antacid product Maalox as an anti-seize product? Makes me wonder how safe it is to ingest...
I see what's in it here, but what makes it good as an anti-seize?
