IPR

My IPR stuck 6 mo ago and I had to go to ford for a new one. My truck is a 94.5 but ford cross ref to the IPR with out the edge filter. I put that in and it worked good for the last 6 m0 and then no start yesterday.Went to ford got another one under warranty put it in and instant start. So what caused it to stick after only 6 mo? Oil changes every 3000 to 4000 mi rotilla 15-40. Just bad luck? or can something else cause the sticking? I have another new one ordered from riff raff with the edge filter for a spare

I would think it would be a faulty part or possibly grit or junk in the oil flow. Keeping up on oil changes and using a good filter should prevent that. Sounds like you are doing that.

The edge filter was moved to the high pressure oil pump in later years, yours is flat, a non edge filter tip IPR looks like a gun barrel from back in the old days vs the flat tip.

The smallest piece of lint will screw up a IPR. You have to act like your doing heart surgery when you put one in.

The new IPR did not clear up my problem. Very hard start this am. Should not have air in the system since I drove it a lot yesterday. Today after the first hard start it has started fine and runs good. This is not a glow plug,starter or fuel problem. E fuel @ 62 psi . This has something to do with high pressure oil. AE does not show codes related to this. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Owned and worked on this truck for 22 yr and this has me stumped. Where can I get a wire pig tail for The IPR? Where do I look next?

Ran AE again. This time 2 codes P0340 cps and P1208 ICP circuit low Any advice where to go next?

pull valve covers and see if lots of oil spurting out of an injector

or check IPR duty cycle % to determine if an oring let go on an injector

Got AE to pull live data a few min. ago. 2250psi @ 35% which all looks good. Changed cps yesterday and so far it is starting and running well. Ordered a new ICP Which will be in next week since the one in the truck is 22 yr old. All live data looks good for now but I have a tow truck on call because this is a daily driver /work truck lol

That was driving around. at idle and wide open throttle all seamed to be within specs. I will put the new icp on next week. For now hope all continues to work right. Thanks for the help.

Don't throw the sensor's away, they are probably good for spares.

another no start / hard start.code p1280 Inj control pressure circuit low. After start Inj control pressure was 596.19 volts 0.94 inj control duty cycle 12.11 @ 647.2 rpm . what do I need to look for? Help will be appreciated

35 is ok at WOT but not at driving around.


you might have injector oring leaking


WOT in N should be 18-21

If it was an injector o ring would it not do it all the time and not just random. The other day with the no start I put the new ipr in and it was instant start. ?

Just went out and truck started fine. Ran ae. cleared codes. restarted truck with no codes rpm 655.2 -injector control pressure 577.53 -icp duty cycle 12.89 -icp volts .92
