how to test....
good morning, need a little testing help, my fuel gauge doesn't work on my 65 c/s cutom cab. how should I go about testing to see if its the gauge or sending unit? thanks in advance

should be able to connect a voltmeter or even a test light to be able to trouble shoot if you getting a signal from sending unit to gauge. I am not expert by any means but normally get out my test light and start checking things. like jowilker says, try checking/cleaning grounds first, that is usually the issue with these older trucks.

Simple test, remove the wire from the sending unit and ground it, the fuel gauge should go to Full with the key on. Another issue could be the float on the sending unit, if it has a leak and fills with gas it will be at the bottom of the tank giving you no reading ( empty ) on the gauge.
