Finally found my wheels!

Hi,
Been looking for the 10 hole forged Alcoa alloy wheels for awhile!

Seems a lot of people are pretty proud of them when they want to sale.

Kept looking at my local CL and found these.

Guy said he wanted $300, I asked for a better price and he said if I came right now (Thurs. night) he would let them go for $200!

I borrowed the cash from a buddy, and was on my way.

They look pretty good except need a complete clean and clear coat.

Any tips on getting these back in shape????

Hi,
Wow!

127 hits and not one comment?

I guess this would be a good place to open a FORD Truck Forum one day!

Thanks to all!

You do know those are called outlaws and there are tons of them on ebay for sale new at a cheap price. In fact even Discount tire has those for sale cheap.

They do look more like the American Racing Outlaw 2, but I think the outlaws might have more holes.

These are the factory Alcoa

Never knew the rivets were an option, in that case....nice find

I've never done it personally, but I've seen a lot of people use a powerball and some aluminum polish with good results.

I stripped mine with aircraft stripper. They looked amazing afterwards. My truck is not a daily driver. If it were, I would seal them or re-clear them.

Hi,
Thanks!

Is there a decent clear coat in a spray bomb that is good?

What if you just left them uncoated and cleaned them once a year?

I've always had painted steel so have no ideas on this?

Thanks again!

You can leave them unprotected but you will have to polish them more often to keep the, looking nice. All of the spray options I have heard of leave less than desirable results. There is a product called shine seal that works well and is easy to apply. I will probably use it if I want to protect them.

Hi,
Thanks, I'll check it out!

I guess I should use something?

Not looking for high polish, just a clean matte type look!

The rivet style on the 5 hole/15" rims ended after '93. The 8 lug/16" versions hung around into '94.

What you clean them with depends on if they are clear coated or bare aluminum. Most factory wheels have clearcoat on them which makes them easier to clean until the clear peels off and discolors. At that point the best way to clean them is to use paint stripper and remove the clear and then polish them with good aluminum polish (I like white diamond). If the clear is intact soap and water will clean them up. Harsh wheel cleaners will eat into the clear.

Hi,
Thanks for the info Gentlemen!

I might try a mild scrubbing at first just to see if there is any clear coat left?

If not I can always strip, sand, polish and seal?

These wheels came off a work truck at an Airport Cargo Terminal.

Dirty mags but no real damage I can see!

Those look like nice sets of wheels. I have a set like that on mine but they have the push in center caps. I always thought they were original because the back caps had what was left of a . Also think they're wider too. With rivets
