Hello, I have done everything I need to get my steering knuckle out so
I can press and replace my ball joints, but I have hit one kink. I cannot get the hub assembly and wheel bearing assembly off. This I think is due to me not being able to remove the snap ring inside of the hub, I have seen countless videos on it but my hub is always different. Pictured is the ring. Also, my hub did get wet, what should I do? And, upon reinstallation, do I have to regrease/pack grease into the gears? The truck in question is a 2006 F-250 XLT 4x4
Yea need to get the snap ring off it can be a pain in the butt! I have two snap ring pliers that did not work but I ended up going to Harbor freight and they have a 11 piece snap ring pliers kit that worked.
One more problem you may come into is using the press to get the ball joints out... I used a sledgehammer because the press I rented was about a 1/2" to short.
Yes wipe out and pack new grease.
