I have an 89 A4LD with the infamous front trans seal leak. I am going to replace the torque converter, bellhousing, trans pump, bushing and front seal to prevent any more leakage. I know that there is an updated bellhousing and seal however, does anyone know the part number so I can call up ford to get the parts?
I want to update this trany to 4.0 spec if possible. Is this possible? If so, can anyone give me info and part numbers that will work to incorporate it into my 89 non 4.0 tranny?
Thank you very much.
I don't know specifically, but I know you can get an "update manual" for the A4LD from ATSG. www.bulkpart.com sells them for $16 as well as the service manual. I would think that would contain the information you need.
Yes I have both manuals however they do not list all the part numbers with all the parts. Just some. They also don't specify if you can swap over certain 4.0 A4LD parts to a non 4.0 to make it a little stronger.
I was just curious to see if anyone knew.
