I was trying to find parts off a ford 4.5 LCF , they route the crankcase to atmosphere near frame rail, I haven't looked at my truck to see if it is a perfect fit but I'm pretty sure it is close. I am also interested in this mod , subscribing
I don't have pics, but parts are simple and cheap. You just need a male pipe pvc plug and a roll of tubing. All can be bought at Home Depot for $20 or so.
I have some pictures in my album. I kept in on for about 5 yrs. I would collect quite a bit of oil - 1/2- 1 cup per yr. It really made working on the truck an extra PITA. Eventually worked itself loose. Also did not stop some oil from getting into the turbo anyway.
I used the Racor4500 filter and some big hose for a round trip which may not really be the best way to go for all of the reasons above.
yeah - if I did it again, I would not bother with the return line. It is really tight under there anyway so the return line was the main PITA getting the intake off etc. Somehow some oil seemed to get through the filter and make the round trip. Just make sure you plug the intake hole well - you don't want unfiltered air getting in the turbo either.
Just did this mod on my truck this past weekend. I used a grey 1" elbow that I got from Ace Hardware, epoxied it into the intake tube. Put the intake tube back onto the turbo and clock the 90deg elbow before using the epoxy. You can line it up so the hose goes straight onto it and everything goes back together without any fitment or clearance issues.
I used a line strainer that I purchased from TSC to filter the oil out. It has a 50 micron screen, and costs $20. Used about 8 feet of 1" heater hose for the whole setup.
It's mounted underneath the truck, kind of behind the drivers side front wheel, up underneath the rocker panel. From this location, I can access the collection cup very easily to dump it when I do an oil change.
All told, it cost about $50 and there's no chance of any kind of oil, smoke, or smell being emitted.
