Yes there are a lot of other problems and I understand your resistance to having to license. And license does not stop stupidity. But being a safe driver is not poking along in the fast lane at 50mph in a 40' Class A, nor does not understanding tire inflation, nor does not ever backing up due to inability, nor does entering a highway and not accelerating to blend into traffic, nor does turning right before stop on red without regard to cross traffic. I am one of the least likely people to support additional regulation but observing many (not all) of the owners of large recreational vehicles scares me that I have to share the highway with them. Back to troverman's reply, why not eliminate all CDL's. Their accident rate per mile is far less than any other vehicle class and at the root of many of their accidents is something some other idiot did and skated away without a scratch. Just put the burden on those who bear watching, but I guess the cops think the only violation ever worth writing is talk on a cell phone or mandatory breath tests at a road block. I don't want you to take a test to operate your rv. But then again I didn't see why I needed a road test to drive a motorcycle when I was routinely pulling double trailers and could navigate all of any major city on the east coast with a twin screw KW and a 45' 13'6" trailer, including anywhere in NYC, Chicago, Boston, Miami, well you should get the idea.
