I have a couple of concerns maybe you guys can shed some light for me.
1. On my temp control when I select the floor for the air it never comes out of the floor vents. Just curious before I tear into it.
2. When I run my AC it seems to alternate from defrost vents to head panel vents. Just wondering if that is part of its function or is there something wrong.
Could be the vac pump however if you have the eatc controller as opposed to the manual one, the fault could lie there. Very common problem with ford. There are many rebuilders on the net who repair them in one day (circut board medics 99 bucks) is one of them. Check their site for information on how to preform a test to assist in tracking down the problem. Good luck
mine did this and replaced the 4wd vacuum solenoid located on the drivers fender (which was dead, and leaking air).
Unless you are not 4wd, not sure what it would be
Yes, I have 4WD. I will check to see if I see something there.

Thank you for the info. I will have to check into this as well.
The vacuum pulse switch should be just to the left of what's shown in the photo above. It's mounted to the passenger side fender just rearward of the battery, it will have an electrical plug as well a couple of vacuum lines attached.
You can see mine in this pic, it has the white plastic cover and the electrical plug is unplugged (safeguard for my mis-matched gears front/rear) and has the red and black vacuum lines on it.
From your description of the HVAC defaulting to the defroster position frequently, it sounds like a vacuum leak, so that's what you are looking for. Look for any obvious damage or corrosion to the vacuum pulse switch and/or broken or disconnected vacuum lines anywhere under the hood or down to the hubs. (although the ones after the vacuum pulse switch should hurt the HVAC unless you are in 4WD)
I don't think my pump is even running. My blower is. I have to make sure that the Vacuum is working. I will update soon as I find out.
I think there may still be a little confusion going on here Aaron, your V-10 makes all the vacuum your EX could ever want or need. Gas motors supply the vacuum for all the vacuum powered accessories directly from the intake manifold whenever the engine is running. Diesel engines do not make vacuum like the gassers do so they rely on a separate vacuum pump to produce the vacuum needed by systems like the HVAC control use. A leak in the vacuum system will exhibit symptoms with the HVAC like described, whether the vacuum is generated by the gas engine or diesel's electric powered vacuum pump. A bad enough vacuum leak on the gas motor will also cause some drivability issues and drag the performance and MPGs down as well. On a diesel a bad vacuum leak will have the vacuum pump running constantly like Mike suggested.

Yes I was confused. I will fill that out right now so that it is a given what type of vehicle I have.
