Where I work everyone has a diesel. I ordered a 7.3 and came very close to getting a base 6.2 equipped truck and get static daily from coworkers BUT those guys trade them in constantly and I keep my vehicles out of warranty. Cheaper to repair vs a diesel.

The 7.3 Ford gas engine is a gem. Diesel engine option cost, maintenance cost, and now fuel cost continue to skyrocket while gas engines keep getting better. The gas engines will basically last as long, are easy to work on when they do break (which is rare), don’t need at $150 oil change, and take fuel that is now $2 per gallon less than diesel in my area. I just bought a 3/4 ton work truck for my business, and it has a gas engine. Yeah, with 13k behind it, it doesn’t pull nearly as well as a diesel but it gets the job done for vastly less cost.

my diesel is going away and a 7.3 is taking its place. by the looks of the order thread i'm not the only one, either.

i think the EPA is doing a fine job of turning diesel owners into former diesel owners

This is the only thing that matters. Even with the rising prices of diesel (and yes, gas too!) and the uncertainty of what’s to come. Buy what makes you happy. Who cares what anyone else here thinks. They are all wrong since they aren’t you.

A used 6.2 XL I see for sale and a used same year XL, same miles diesel sells for about $8K more. You pay 10K more so of course the resale will be higher on the diesel. IF the resale on the Diesel was exactly the same as a 6.2 well NOW you have a valid argument. No different than two identical rings, one made from silver, one from gold, you pay more for the gold so it will resale for more than the silver.

IOW it is an Invalid Argument!

Anything else is just chest beating and grunting caveman style.

Looks like some were taken in by a zombie thread. Original post 6 years old. Until a couple of days ago the most recent was January 2017.

Times have changed. Right now a gas truck makes far more sense. 10 speed transmissions help a gas truck more than a diesel truck, and the 7.3L Ford will tow 95% of anything people tow.
