Diesel prices

Just noticed that Diesel is $.12 per gallon cheaper than gas ($2.239). Been awhile since I've seen that... Is it the same everywhere else?

It's about $0.10 cheaper than gas here in Oregon, but gas went way up for the Memorial Day holiday. After things settle down, we'll see if diesel stays cheaper.

Diesels been 15-20 cents cheaper here for a while. We're a little farm town though so every gas station has it... Guess we can thank competition.

I think that's pretty much how things are going on around everywhere, but I wouldn't get too cozy with it.

Irony is that I was actually driving more last summer then I ever had before. Sometimes, rather you want to or not, you have to endure for a bit til things get better.

my opinion

I don't think you will find the super high prices as last summer. At this point gas and diesel refineries are suffering from high inventories. (don't believe otherwise) Demand isn't likely to rebound much till economic recovery becomes widespread. Then you will find that diesel will remain lower than gasoline, which it should be due to less refining that is needed.

Look at what VW has done. They now have a diesel (jetta i think) that gets 58 mpg and very low emissions (well below any state standards) that will be the norm of future cars. I say this because of the HUGE powers of the OC's.

Even though you should see through 2010 an upswing in alternative energy such as wind, solar, biofuels, etc. It will slow as more vehicle manufactures are turned towards producing low emission diesel engines. Honda has a line in production and waiting for testing.

These are just opinions from me as an every day joe like you. I just have a knowledge base of transportation due to my field of work.

And yes.......diesel here in Delaware is 10 to 15 cents cheaper than gasoline.

My fortune came to me this weekend....i traded my 07 Expedition EL 4x4 on a super duty. I plan on purchasing a camping trailer and the one i want is 9500 lbs dry (about 11,000 lbs loaded) and the Expedition would have a difficult time pulling it. So i called a couple of local dealers and found this:

2004 Super Duty, Crew Cab, XLT trim, 4X4, Diesel with only 23132 miles on it! (and full color matched lockable tonnou cover) Hard to believe. The person that had it kept it in the garage much of its 5 years of life and had company transportation (military). So for my family of 5 it is just what we needed.
