Removing Chrome Rocker Panels

I have chrome rocker panels I want to remove, mainly because I got a sweet deal on some used tires/wheels and the wheels are black. Has anyone done this with success? The truck is red and I don't want to pay for paint matching. And red trucks sure show the difference. Pics both ways would be appreciated if you kept them and run different color wheels. Suggestions on going about the process as well. Have to wait on mounting the wheels(need a leveling kit) and my FICM repair is way more important.

I did it, was terrible. I can't remember exactly how I did it but I used a quads winch to pull them off. Was a little scary at times but it did work pretty good. Way I would go about it now would be to try soaking them with mineral oil or baby oil for a few days and then giving them a pull. Those should loosen the adhesive up a bit.

I've heard a heat gun helps.

The driveway sucks for wrenching, I move to the street or go to a buddies house. Neither is my first choice.

Reminds me of the scenes in the old batman show when they would scale the buildings.

How did the paint look underneath? That's going to be a big concern for me.

The orientation of the picture. Looks like your truck is pointing straight up

No loss of paint. Took a fair bit of work getting the adhesive of but this is where the mineral oil will help out too.

No guarantees it will work but I did use mineral oils to clean bitumen off of breathing air equipment and it worked out pretty good.
