Breakerless Ignition Module Qs

In my quest to get my truck running I am replacing plugs and wires, and since I don't really know what I'm doing with points, and I have been told that the breakerless conversion is the way to go. I would like some input from FTE because it has been my experience (mostly with my 99 7.3) that you all can save me a lot of time, money and frustration.

So my questions are:
1. Is the conversion a good one?
2. Is right off the bat a good time to tackle it?
3. What brand is most recommended?
4. There seem to be different versions, such as Ignitor and Ignitor II, and Flame Thrower I and II coils. Does it make any difference?

As always thank you for your support in my addiction solutions

If you do this recommend installing the base model Ignitor and the Flamethrower coil as a pair, making sure to bypass the truck ballast resistor to receive full battery voltage at all times.

Also recommend the distributor itself, be replaced as part of the upgrade or at minimum carefully inspected for proper operation. One of the reasons points cause so much trouble today is because the distributor is all clapped out. Setup properly, they work fine and trouble free for thousands of miles. FYI.

While electronic modules are a whole lot less susceptible to worn distributors it's important that the mechanical advance/retard and vacuum advance/retard works smoothly and accurately up and down the RPM range, as the distributor is the electronic "brain" of the ignition system.
