My base plate is the same as mentioned by the OP. I pulled it off today and it is falling apart everywhere that it connects to a hose. The base plate seems fine enough. I am going to grind off 2 spouts and reroute or block the rest of that whole system.

This is not perfect, but it is what I did today. Cost was $5.69



You can see on the manifold, that two hoses come off and another from the water pump.

Wow, you basically removed the entire flow for the heater. Are those caps strong enough to hold that temp and pressure?

It says that it is designed for it, it is blocking a water pump outlet.

My heater core, housing, ducting, everything, was removed by the previous owner so until I get that all sorted, there is no reason to have any deteriorated hoses running around.

Get this fitting when the time comes to properly reconfiguring the carb base plate and the extra port on the heater fitting. NPD's Mustang catalog lists PN 18599-10 as a 5/8-inch, single port fitting (about $10) which is stated for aftermarket manifolds but happens to be the same size for an FE.
