1tonner, picture of part was to verify it is his need. Was going to post dimensions per chance he could make one from a nylon sleeve purchased from a hardware store. Bill N D has posted possible sources for the pieces in a kit. Maybe you could try those sources. I wish to keep mine at this time. I will post dimensions if someone wants.
....well...he seemed rather urgent, if not desperate, with 5 posts during the previous two days. Now that FTE members have shown up with the stuff he needs....nary a vapor trail. Cracks me up. I'm amazed, however, the readiness of the members of this forum, when it comes to stepping up with good information or parts assistance. You guys have helped me trmendously.
Please excuse my absence and lack of follow through regarding the posts. Yes there was a tone of urgency but I'm also a USA Swimming Deck Official and with it being an Olympic year, am extremely busy with my LSC. Just finished working a swim meet that required my time from very early morning to well into the evening the last 3 days.
I did reply to the horn issue that the fix I threw at it did work but would need the actual insulator given what was used. Regarding the clamp, that's where the greatest urgency was and did find a clamp on Friday but given where I was headed, knew I couldn't respond. If any of you know the world of year round swimming, please explain it to the rest. (We also have a daughter who competes and being a Junior in High School, is working toward a college scholarship so that adds to the efforts we provide.)
Anyhow, I'm extremely grateful for all the responses and help so if someone has a spare insulator, please contact me through PM and I'll try and respond quickly. Just let me know how much and we can work out the details. I'll also give a shout to the more local places Bill provided plus I have a good friend who is a service manager for a local Ford dealership and with just having repair a computer sensor for him, maybe he can do some digging too. Right now it's just trying to find time to take care of everything and somethings get shifted to the back of the line more frequently that I like.
oh yeah, the trouble I was having was that the horn button, when it was attached to the wheel, would cause the horn to blow. with all the new parts it wasn't from the contact between the two. We identified it as the spring creating a complete circuit and why I decided isolate the spring with an extra horn rubber disc. Originally I wrapped the spring in 3M splicing tape but the ends of the spring would wear through the tape causing the issue.
It makes perfect sense why we were having issues with the fact I don't have an insulator so now we just need to follow through procuring the part.
