I think I may of ordered the incorrect brush assy for my 1966 F100 2wd with a horn ring if it matters. I got part number C0AF-13A821-A but I can't figure out how it would fit. Is this the correct part? What is the copper top end supposed to touch?
I'm looking at the parts catalog, section 134 page 26 and I don't even see a brush assy listed for the 1966 F100 2wd...?
How do I know if I have the correct spring for the horn ring?
Pulled the horn ring off my 65 and looks same as in your pic. Mine sets inside an insulator. Also had to replace the horn brush on the backside of the steering wheel.
The plastic insulator for the brush is in there. Does the spring for your horn ring sit loose in there my pic above or is it smaller diameter and sits inside the retainer plate? The brush I have seems to stick out too far... Is it supposed to bend towards the center of the steering wheel or be compressed straight down, or?

Mine sets exactly as shown in your pic, on top of the plastic retainer and compresses straight down.
Thanks for the pics! The copper head (the part that sticks out from the insulator) on my brush assy is a good 1/2" long. It seems like it sticks out too far. It's hard to tell because your picture is straight on, is yours the same way?

On mine, able to push the brush to where it's flush, entirely sets inside the insulator, there's a small gap on the horn colar where a small screw driver, paper clip; or something simular, can be used to hold the brush flush while the horn ring is installed. Word of caution, watch for flying projectile; couple of occasions the tool used to hold the brush inplace slipped off and the brush shot across the cab and there are couple spares remain somewhere behind the gas tank?
Yup, there are two different types of horn brushes. One is skinnier than the other, and that is the one I needed for my '65 F250 2WD. C2OZ-13A821-AR from a dealer in NY. (Made in CHINA)
If you want to do it correctly, I found a pair of the correct brushes for you. (C2OZ-13A821-AR)
Send $ for shipping and I will let you have them for Nada.

The correct Ford part number is C2OZ-13A821-A .. Horn Brush & Insulator KIT / Some of the repop sellers add an R to the suffix to denote a reproduction.
Carpenter shows C2OZ-13A821-A in his catalogs, shows a pic of the little darlin' but doesn't show the insulator. Buying the brush only may not do anyone any good if the insulator is not included "as original."
FoMoCo did not sell these two parts individually, they only came as a KIT.
Carpenter lists this kit thru 1972 which is BS .. because 1971/72's use a 2 spoke steering wheel with a vinyl horn pad.
