I'm sorry to be harsh, but:

Everything from the condenser back to the firewall + computer + crossmember + exhaust manifolds + linkages + distributor + intake + oil pan(?)

Don't cut any wires.

Get all the fasteners.

In short, everything for a 94 F-150 V8 but the long block.

Okay so if I get a truck with a 5.0 does it have to be a 94? And the if so why?

Why not use a MAF coversion for a truck on the explorer long block? Gain a working engine with better heads, and wont have to scratch your head trying to wire it up. That should be able to "adapt" to the increased air flow just the same as when guys put better heads on a truck 302.

Am I missing something?

Anything after 92 would be best, older than 95... well, depends.

94 is a division year in wiring & computer control of the transmission & the trans itself. (Which was asked about a few posts ago & we still don't know)

You asked about "drop in" which is a big difference "can be adapted, made to work, etc."

Anything can be made to work. All it takes is time, money, skill, mechanical knowledge, tools, parts, materials, documentation, work space, drive, will & dedication. When you start to subtract any of those individual items, the chances of success goes down proportionally with each one removed.

A wiring harness from a 1994 F150 would be the best choice because it already matches the model year of your truck. Ford was notorious for changing wiring from year to year. If you try anything before or after 1994 you MAY run into minor wiring changes to get everything to work between the engine/cab/computer.

To further complicate things Ford started using Mass Airflow Flow (MAF) mid-year 1994. So if your current truck is a Speed Density version, most likely, that narrows down the "easy" swap to an early 1994 with Speed Density.

I was going to look into this for my '88. Explorer 5.0 slide in a B303 cam and have fun.

Screw this. I'm rebuilding a hot-rodded 302 I've had for years and keeping the carb.

Good luck with this build. I'll be watching how it pans out. Hope you change my mind!
