Started takeing my97 f250 4x4 apart to do the ball joints and universal joints. But on the passenger side the manual locking hub would not slide out over the axle because it was batted on the end. I ended up having to bust the lock out out with a chisel. Once I got it out the spindle got a little buggered up. So now I'm in need of a new manual locking hub and possibly a stub shaft or spindle. I have called part store after part store only to pull my hair out. They hire some dumb bunnies. Turns out no one knows which manual locking hub I need. I am pretty sure I have a Dana 50 cause it has 50 stamped on the front diff. Any idea which locking hub I need and where can I get a axle stub/spindle from for the passenger side?
You have 30 spline outers on the 50, count to confirm. I only use Warn these days and have yet to have issue with them.
If you have a Twin Torsion Beam front end on it its a D50 that came in all f250s till 1999, unless it was swapped to a solid monobeam front D60 later in its life. Either way they have the same outer shafts splines and use the same lockouts, Here is a link to new lockouts: Dana 50 Lockout Hubs-Broncograveyard.com
When you say batted what do you mean? The spindle can take a lot of abuse and still be fine as long as the bearing surface is not marred for the inner and outer bearings. A lot of time guys whack the crap out of them with metal hammers marring the surface.
The stub shaft will be fine unless the splines are junk if there are any slight burrs a file can be used to clean up. Junk yards would be a good place to find a usable undamaged spindle and inner outer shaft assembly, if you need a new spindle most parts stores stock them, if you need a new outer, replace the u joint when you install on the inner....
My mistake the spindle isn't messed up its the outer axle stub that is a little buggered up. The splines are a little rough. I'll try to take a Dremel tool to it to clean it up. Do the dana 50 and 60 take the same manual locking hub?

Crazy is all I got to say. Finally got the passenger side tore down. Replaced the ball joints in the knuckle. Got the u joints changed on that side and got my axle/needle bearing replaced or should it I say put in. Got the spindle off and there was no axle/spindle bearing installed. It was clean as a whistle. No sign of a bearing being there. I guess that's where my axle slop came from. I have also noticed on that same side I am short a retaining clip and 3 washers that go up against the locking nuts. I have no ideas where to get them or what they are called.
