So some of you that were following my other thread probably know that I'm going to be replacing my turbo in my 05 excursion. I'm looking at the stock replacement new turbos from Garret. PN 743250-5013. Has anybody used one of these before? Are they any good? Or is there a better option for a reasonable price? Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks
Yes that's the one I've been looking at. Just waiting to see how much shipping would be to Canada. And are you positive that one comes with the solenoid? Hope so.
Does anybody know what size the turbo V-clamps are? I want to order them when I order my turbo but they only list the sizes not by application. 3.82". 4.13". 4.63". 5.75" OD. Not sure which two I need. I'm sure I over tightened both last time I had it apart. Thanks
Not to hijack the thread too bad....why is a new turbo ~$200 less than the rebuilt?
John
Since this thread is already a little bit I'm looking for turbos too.....I just sent them an email to find out the answer to your question. the pricing seems backward as is for sure.

Sorry for the delayed response, I was away and my phone won't let me reply for some reason. Anyway, yes I heard back and was told that...Do to extensive testing on the turbo cores it is less costly for the company to acquire the new turbos for resale. Strange but true...according to the person I corresponded with.

Well the turbo showed up from Thoroughbred the other day. Looks damn nice. Saved around $300 Canadian by getting it shipped up here. The old turbo is ripped out and I'm just waiting for my new uppipe clamp. Should be here in a day or two. Do I need to do a VGT relearn once the new ones installed? Or will it learn itself after awhile?
