1994 ranger 224 error
EDIT:
SO if you come by your LED test light, or just decide you want to do some more testing, have a look here at scenario #3 for some more ideas on ICM testing, with pictorials. http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford/...sensor-tests-3
Hello PawPaw...I`m a happy camper.....

I just returned from the hospital yesterday, had an operation on my throat, and today the new ICM came in. I couldn`t wait so off i went and installed the new ICM with heat transfer paste. Connected the timing light up to the #1 right spark plug and startedit. Lots of flashes and so it is firing on all plugs. NO MORE CEL.. truck is running great.
Thanks for all ther help buddy
Wish you a great weekend and a nice holiday monday.
Sorry and it is an OBD-1. My OBD-1 connector is located behind the power distribuatiob box on the drivers side. the error code was during the KOEO test.
I think I found the SPOUT connector ( on drivers side near the OBD-1 conector). A little gray plug in the engine harness. with a green and a gray-red striped wire. I have disconnected it and re-connected it nothing happens. Is their some kind of voltage reading I can get off the two wires. Or is this not the SPOUT?
test point
eng. compartment
is this the SPOUT
pretty high-tech redneck stuff for a 94 Ranger but it works.
I hope this helps some.
I´m headed to a car show with my
64 ranchero deluxe today.
The truck starts fine and it isn´t sluggest to the throttle. No knocking. if I hold the gas pedal down to get a higher idle ( say 1500 rpm) the check enging light won´t come on until it idles for a little bit.
I don´t have a wiring diagram for the truck to make sure the wire colors are correct on the SPOUT. Internet said something about pink wires but mine are green abd a gray with red strip.
Another thing, as an afterthought....
It was explained to me that since this is ecp/pcm you cannot adjust the timing. Even "rebooting" the SPOUT like that, that's just a "kick in" type of help for the ecm to pick up or let go (forward or advance) timing by 1% to no more than 2% either direction. You adjust the "Timing" by adjusting the fuel and air.... which in turn "adjusts the timing" , just inadvertently. When you adjust the fuel and air "of you get it right, then the computer affluent the timing to the fuel to air to the most efficient from there.... headache so yes but no you can but can't adjust the timing on this year Ranger.
