so I did a little work on the bump, I found a replacement dash harness that was in decent shape to replace the squirrel eaten one in my truck. did a few repairs to it and it's good to go now. what I found out now that I can use the key to turn the engine over is the trans is shot. I can do pretty much anything, mechanical but never rebuilt a transmission. a kit is pretty inexpensive, so is it pretty straight forward to do? any special tools needed? any helpful hints or tricks? thanks guys.
My brother, who is an ASE Certified Master Technician, rebuilt mine, with some help from me. He is NOT a transmission mechanic, but has built several. We followed a rebuild manual, checked tolerances, replaced selectives to get them right, and air checked the clutch assemblies. We think it's right, but the truck isn't running yet to find out for sure. I wouldn't attempt it on my own. Lots of parts, lots of precision tolerances. Lots of work to pull it apart if it doesn't work!!!

You don't give any details on how you come to thinking your tranny is bad.
Other then turning the engine over. Like it won't shift into another gear or out of a gear.
Sorry , I'm getting old and still have not improved any of my ESP skills since the 60's of those 420 days.
May be you could post more details on your trans problem.
Since I don't have a working third gear in my C6, I very interested in those videos. I thought it was very interesting that we can use Dextron III or MerconIV in our transmissions. I noticed that the "Monster Transmission" web site shows synthetic trans fluid for the C6.
