I'm looking in my parts and illustration guide to locate a replacement blue adapter for my '82. My original one which I don't know if I still have but I had to take it off as the plastic was broken and would move around on the dist in a twisting motion.
So I got the part numbers and I decided to look them up on ebay but no luck on finding actually photos.
First one is listed as 80/ without EEC but its said in the notes its gray the part number is E2ZZ-12A217-B. Another one which is listed as 82 with EEC is listed in the notes as being blue (only blue listed in notes) and its part number is D9AZ-12A217-A.
The first number brought a NOS hit of them but their photo is just simply a photo of the blue oval not of the actual parts. The second part number listed for EEC comes back as gray on ebay and they are new production by places like Dorman.
So I am asking am I not looking at something right? I hate to have to tear the garage up to try and find the adapter if I even still have it just to get the number off it.

Would the D9AZ-12A217-A be correct for a non EEC Duraspark II? I ask because in the parts and illustration guide it says the DJ-4 Blue is for EEC and the DJ-6 that is gray is for non EEC.
My guess would be the D9 part would be appropriate for a non-EEC distributor, the EEC variants started in California in 1980 and would have an E*** prefix.
But this kind of thing can be purchased at a local auto parts store, there aren't that many variations of the thing.

Of course, I have a working one on my truck now after I changed the dist out. Its just gray and I want to find the correct blue base to put back on there. I might need to search the garage this weekend and see if I still have the old one see if the part number matches the ECC variant. All I know is its original to this truck as far as I can tell.

Sold new in CA 1979 LTD/Grand Marquis 351W were the first with the EEC system.
Yeah, yeah... like it matters in a truck forum what was done with the cars....
Hey, young whippersnapper, don't you know who you are "speaking" to? He's the Saint of Numbers, so just be careful. And, he didn't mention "cars", he was merely pointing out when the first EEC system came out.
