Power Tow Mirror
Power Tow Mirror
Hey guys (gals). My driver's tow mirror has bit the dust. I've seen procedures for a $5 fix, and stuff, but I'm probably not going to do that. No gumption, no nerves of steel anymore. Anyway, just trying to find where/what the best deal is. This is the full power (fold/extend/heated) for a 2011. I've seen OEM go for anywhere from $900 to $1300. I saw one used one (long gone) for around $750. I have also seen repro for considerably cheaper. Any thoughts or ideas for this replacement mirror?
How did it bite the dust, and what is the $5 fix? I'm super interested...
Also, if you're going to spend a bunch on a new mirror anyway, why not go ahead and try the fix? You've got nothing to lose at that point, right?

Thanks Larry. I can't do things like I used to. I will probably replace it, and maybe play with the old one. Maybe.
As for biting the dust, it quit folding in/out. I tried the sync thing, but nothing worked. After I changed my batteries, it actually folded in, but it was very slow, and then wouldn't do anything else from there on (no in, no out, no nothing). It will wiggle a bit, but that's it. I tried to get it replaced under my extended warranty, but the dealer saw a "scuff" along the lower corner and determined it had been hit. Which I find pretty funny since it's rarely been out of my driveway in the last 8 months or so. But whatever. Anyway, just looking to replace it. 30 minutes worth of work compared to who knows how long if I try to tear the thing down and do a $5 fix that may or may not work.
