What's this part?

Well found this hole today and figured it wasn't supposed to be there. Can someone enlighten me on the name of this part? By the looks I assume I can just replace that cover piece?

If I'm not mistaken I believe you're talking about the transmission inspection plate. You have an auto trans correct? Wouldn't have one on a manual.

I might be mistaken about a manual not having one. Cause it definitely looks like a trans/flywheel inspection plate. If I were home I could look under mine to verify (I also have a manual 4 speed.) Do you know which 4 speed it is?

Awesome that does look like it! And I guess that hole is supposed to be there. Makes since now that I know it's just an inspection cover. Thanks

Yep, now that I know what the part is, the hole makes sense lol. Was partly worried since I'm fixing a few leaks and there was some dripping from the hole

6366 in upper pic is the 360/390 flywheel inspection cover. If oil is leaking out, it's probably coming from the rear main seal.

Lower pic shows the NP435, there is no inspection plate. 7165 in pic on the right (passenger) side is the PTO cover, 7166 is its gasket.

Thanks numberdummy that'd be the part! Is the rear main seal easy to change?

Numberdummy to the rescue as usual. If I had half the knowledge he does my truck would be in much better shape lol.

Depends if our trucks have one piece or two piece seals. I believe they are one piece rear mains which means separating the trans from the engine to remove and replace.

Upper & lower rear main seals shown as 6701 in pic. Could be the rope type or the split lip type.
