I am just wondering,
If Ford Has a reason for pretty much dropping the manual trans. The only way that you can get one is if you order the heritage edition. Is it maybe the automatic tranny's are better than a manual or is it one of those lets make things simpler so that we dont have to replace so much stuff? I just wonder because in my thought I think a truck is a truck with a manual tranny.
1991 f-150 xlt lariat Texas Lariat Edition. Extended Cab
300 Inline -Six with M50D Tranny. 243,000 and running strong.
They have it so it is so much controlled by a computer that they say there is no need to offer a manual.
Personally, I don't like having an automatic, shifting gives me something to do. They still do offer the 6 speed manual trans in the F-250/F-350 though. When I get a new truck, I'm probably going to get one with the ZF 6 speed behind it.
So then what you are saying is that they are making the f-150 primarily automatic. what manual tranny are they offering then in the heritage and 250 and up? is it the M5od or is it something different like a zf? Is the M50d computer controlled at all?
