I have a 01 f250, that when I start it and put it in gear it bogs and dies, you can smell fuel, it starts right back up but dies it you dont keep the RPM's at 3000+. I need to hold it at that speed for a minute or 2 to get it to keep running. Any ideas? fuel filter maybe? Fuel pump? Ideal air control??
If the fuel filter has not been replaced in a while you could just replace it as it probably should be done anyway. However I've only ran into one newer vehicle with a clogged fuel filter and it would not go above idle.
You could pull the IAC off and clean it with some carb cleaner.(be careful with the gasket) Put it back on after the cleaning to see if there is a difference. A new IAC usually runs less than $75.
