I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before.
Truck:
2002 F250 lariat 4 door cab 4x4
The Probelm:
The door locks will stop working after sitting for 15 mins or so. I can get them to work again by disconnecting the battery then and connecting it again. Then like magic all 4 locks work again, but if I let it run they will work until it's off and sitting for 15 mins or so they will stop working. I've checked the fuses and disassembly the fuse box to look for any damage but it looked fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'd check all the wires going from the cab to the door for cracking, corrosion or breaks just to rule it out. I just ran into an intermittent issue similar with an Explorer and it turned out to be a broken wire making intermittent connection.
The schematics show the "Vehicle Security Module" (VSM-has to do with the remote locking, etc.) as the place where the switch signals go to activate/deactivate the locks.
It's a black box on the schemats, so no help other than replacement if the problem is there.
As said by others, check all the connections you can ascertain are involved.
I am not sure what issues, if any, you would create by reseating the connectors on the VSM (possible alarm signal, etc?). I would hope none, but I would research some before doing it.
