How to drop the TRANSFER CASE.

I have an early 99 Super duty F350 with a 10 cylinder motor, 4x4 single wheel in the rear. I have lifted the truck 6" with a combination of adding leaves and blocks.
The truck does not have a currier bearing. The only way I think I can fix the angle of the shafts is by dropping the transfer case. The front shaft is more of the problem, because of the angle it's tight. Mechanic is saying that he might have to trim the fan. We are thinking of droping the transfer case by 3". Does all of this sound right?

That doesn't seem right to me at all. I've got a 6.5 inch lift in mine, didn't have to do anything to the front driveshaft at all. Rear I had to drop the hanger bearing of course. I'm not understanding where trimming the fan would come into play...

Maybe there is something wrong with my front drive shaft. I don't have a carrier bearing because it's an early 99. The triming of the fan comes into play when you drop the transfer case it changes the angle of other things.

If you are saying about fan issues you are talking about lower the whole transmission mount. You honestly don't know what you are getting into. What all have you done already besides put blocks and springs in to lift it? Once you start moving that transmission mount you are changing the driveline geometry front and rear. You are likely going to throw all your angles out and get vibration if you don't already. You actually may make the front worse being as you lower the amount you are tilting the front t-case output up. If the front shaft is that bad now to either need a t-case index ring or a high angle drive shaft.

You can get a clocking ring and rotate your t case down some, I wouldn't just drop the mount down. That can cause other issues.

agreed. get a clocking ring for the transfer case. dropping the mount will cause all kinds of issues you do not need.
